Update | I'm Baaaaaack!

Hello....

I know I've been away a while. Life kinda just gets in the way sometimes and some things have to take a back seat. For me, that was my blogging. But today is the start of a new month and I'm back into things and can't wait to get going again. Today I have my top ten targets of the month! I may make this monthly?

Here we go:

1. I am going to reduce my alcohol intake this month, narrowing down to around a glass of wine a week. (except for the 11th of October when I move out!!)

2. No chocolate. No sweets! I'm gunna try!

3. Less coffee, more herbal teas. This will be difficult!!

4. More fitness! I want to do more fitness this month, now I'll be walking up and down from the train station at both ends.

5. Reach my daily intake of water.

6. Stop eating crap! Honestly, the amount of Fast Food I've even lately is ridiculous!

7. Write weekly goals. I want to try and right down three weekly goals and meet them!

8.  5 a day. Yes I'm targeting to eat 5 fruits and 5 veg a day.

9. Food diary. I'm starting a food diary this month.

10. Blog more! I missed blogging so I'm back at it!!

So there you go my top ten targets of October!
Does anybody else do this?

Quick Update

Hey Lovelies!

So today I managed a very happy moment. I noticed a difference in my body! The last few weeks I've really tried to eat healthily and be more positive about my body. I was told by the hospital I have over elastic skin and muscles meaning I'll bounce back into shape with no loose skin anywhere, which prompted me to kick start my healthy lifestyle again and stop. being. lazy!

I've been working harder at work. Eating healthier. And doing more exercise.

I shall be back blogging and tweeting more efficiently now :)

Coconut Water!

Hey Dolls.

Today's post is about the much adored 'Coconut Water'. The brand I'm talking about today is Vita Coco. The lovely people over at Vita Coco sent me a lovely box of goodies contained inside was one of each of the 6 flavours of water.

Original
Pineapple
Orange
Passion fruit
Peach & Mango (my favourite, and considering I really don't like peach I love this!)
Acai and Pomegranate

I really liked them! I have mainly been adding them into blended fruit and a scoopful of my protein for a really nice nutritious break fast. But they can be enjoyed on their own! I must admit I didn't like them room temperature but really enjoyed them after they had been in the fridge. They do have a slight 'twinge' to their taste some would say a slightly sour note which will not be for everyone!

Coconut water is highly nutritious and good for you. It has been spotted on countless celebs and Rihanna has been the face of the brand.

Coconut water is more hydrating than a glass of water and in Fiji is used as emergency Intravenus fluids to hydrate severely dehydrated patients and is very common practise.

It also contains more potassium than a Banana, which is great! Considering I know a lot of people who think Bananas are baby food!
Hydrating your skin is not only good for the inside of you but also the outside. After drinking Vita Coco, I have noticed a difference in my skin, hair and nails. They have started to look a lot better and the quality is better too, my hair isn't as dry and my nails don't break half as easily anymore.
Vita Coco has a massive thumbs up from me!! I shall continue to drink it. You can buy it from Holland and Barrett if you're more interested in the flavoured ones, where as I know you can buy the litre cartons from both Tesco and Sainsbury's for cheaper at around £3-£4 dependant on offer!!
Do you drink Coconut water? Which brand do you opt for?
Rebecca!!!
*My views are all my own, product was sent from Vita Coco for review.

Fiji Water!

Hi Lovelies!
Today I bring you what may seem like an odd review.. of water?!
But this water is different, I tend to avoid tap water as it's not great and it's been chemically treated so more often than not I opt for bottled water. It's quick and easy and fits in the fridge.
As you might be aware in exactly 2 years I'm jetting off to Fiji for a month or two to volunteer on a Teaching Project and a Shark Conservation Project.
I love Fiji Water Company and their values for this reason alone!

The Brand:
Fiji Water was set up to put money back in Fijan communities and is currently one of Fijis largest exports. They are helping preserve Fiji's largest lowland rain forest. This is currently a habitat to animals and plant which cannot be found anywhere else in the world, thus being very important!
Also helping preserve Fiji's natural environment. Which is beautiful!!
Fiji water also helps schools and education is Fiji which is what I'll be flying over there to do also. Fiji water has helped build much needed schools out there and train up adults to become fully qualified nursery nurses and teachers.
To me the company overall are amazing and are helping Fiji millions! You may be thin king then why is 53% of Fiji population not able to get clean drinking water? What you must know is Fiji is made up of an Archipelago of tiny islands, so currently this is quite easy to understand. The company have installed various water tanks to parts of Fiji giving them 100% clean drinking water and a system to match. Amazing!

The Fiji Water*
The water itself is really nice and refreshing, you can't say a lot about the taste of water. I don't love water but have been starting to drink it a lot more lately, and I feel better knowing the money is going to a good cause!

I have been drinking the samples sent to me which was a 330ml bottle (odd size but perfect handbag size!) and a 500ml standard size. They also sent to spare caps, what?! you say. Well they came with a built in straw the caps I mean! I was fascinated by these and think they are amazing!

Fiji water can be found at Ocado and Co-Op mainly. Give them a check out. The 330ml at Ocado is £3.49p for a pack of 6 and the 500ml is 79p! This I think is very good prices!! For more information please check their website forwhat they're doing and how they got there!

Have you tried Fiji Water? Let me know down below!!

Kicking The Diet Coke Habit!

Hi Guys!

I know I've been a little MIA for the last week, but I've been enjoying my freedom (I've finish uni till September ha ha). But today I bring you a post about something that's not as easy as it sounds!!

So I used to be a chronic Diet Coke drinker, being one of those people who thought "Oh, well it's got no sugar, no fat and calorie free practically" and never thought to ask myself why the hell is this drink brown and how? So I have extremely painful knee's at times and that kicked my health kick. So clearly the Diet Coke had to go! I knew deep down it could be making them worse, afterall what you dirnk is going into your body!?!

Did you know 'Coca Cola' is the second most recognised word worldwide one place behind OK?!?!

Anyway... I started drinking less of the stuff in the shiny silver can and more of ASDA's flavoured fizzy water, cutting down bit by bit is easier than the 'lets stop no more now' kind of approach as you crave it less, and you forget how much you initially depended on it. And yes depended. Diet Coke contains Caffeine which is addictive!
I suffered serious headaches, dizzy spells and case of the shakes (where my hands and lower arms would become shaky). This is serious and can have a detrimental affect on your body.

Did you know Caffeine is known to coax the calcium OUT of your bones!!

By cutting down the Diet Coke and drink copious amounts of Blackberry and Elderflower fizzy water I became a happier person and felt tonnes better! My skin looked healthier and my joints felt more relaxed and hurt far less than they had done!

All in all I do treat myself to an occasional glass of ice cold Diet Coke if it's sunny, but if I do, I have a treat drink rather than loosing the plot and going back down a winding road!

It might seem ridiculous to some but this was a very difficult thing to do but I am proud of myself for it and I know my body is better for it too. And so is my Mother after continually worrying Diet Coke make ruin my joints (which it can!!).

Since then I've discovered more nutritional drinks like Coconut Water, Freshly juiced fruit and water! I've come to love water in all it's glory.

The thing I hope to gain from this post is just because it's calorie free doesn't make it a good drink. Just think whats exactly giving it a taste? Chemicals probably! Make sure you know what you're drinking. Believe people who tell you it's not good for you, if you don't read up on it. Now my knee's are bad and Coke is probably a contributing factor I learnt a little too late. But we can all kick the diet coke!!

I hope you liked reading this post, which was quite personal for me. If you want it, you can do it! Dream for it, blieve it and you just might surprise yourself and acheive it! :D

Rebecca

P.S Sorry about my little facts but I found then interesting haha. My general rule is read the ingredients if you can't pronounce them don't digest them. Good luck to anyone trying to give it up. It's hard but put in the legwork you'll feel great afterwards.

9 Bar Review!

Hi Guys!

I know I snack, you probably snack, we all snack. We just can't help it. Sometimes you get a little peckish in between meals or pre workout, I thought I'd bring you a review of two bars that I found in ASDA today.

9 Bar

I found these on a blog this morning, And HAD to try them. 9 bar is a company based in Wales (UK) where all the bars are made. All 6 bars are made up from different seeds and packed full of nutrients to keep you going. The seeds include: sunflower, poppy, pumpkin, sesame and hemp. They also include nuts in some of them such as: cashews, pistachios and peanuts. Seeds and nuts are famously good for different nutrients, 'good fats', minerals and essential fatty acids like Omega 3. Hemp seed which is the star igredient in the 9bars does contain all of the 20 amino acids that we needs in our body which are good for esentail health. The ones I've tried are Original and Flax. There are six different flavours all together. They can be found at supermarket or on their website here.

Original:
Weight: 50g
Calories per bar: 277
Protein: 9.2g

This was the first bar that I tried and is lovely! It contains natural cane sugar (which isn't like all the suggary sugars that are bad for you this is good!) which gives it a perfect level of sweetness to give that craving a fix. The layer of carob topping which is like chocolate is better than actual chocolate! The bar is wheat, gluten and dairy free. It really filled me up for a long time, which is perfect pre workout or as a morning snack on the train as brain food before uni!

Flax:
Weight: 50g
Calories per bar: 261
Protein: 8.7g

This was also gorge! With the added flax seed it did taste slightly different. Although I love them both. Thet do make a really nice snack and do keep you going. I'd love to try the other flavours. You can egt them at ASDA or on their website.

Have you tried them?

Motivational Monday #3

Hi Lovelies.

Well.. WOW! Week 3 of this now! This is my favourite part of the blog, inspirations is good for us all and a weekly dose does everyone some good. So for this week I'm inspiring about Workouts!

I admittedly am thee worst at trying to get out of bed and do some exercises, but now not only do I want to lose some weight and tone up but I need to. I have a bad knee which needs regular exercises to keep it healthy and strong.
So being a student I'm not loaded, so a gym membership is a no currently. I'm going to utilise what I do have... and that's a Wii and a Fit Board. I will be doing an hour workout every day at least five times a week and it is only 4% of your day surely I can spare that... can't I?

Have a nice week!

Arrival of Maxitone!

Hi Lovelies!

So as you all know by now by reading my blog, you'll know I created this blog to inspire others to get fit and healthy but also to inspire myself. So I did a little research into nutrients and helpful tips to help lose weight and tone up and along came.... Maxitone!
I was dubious of using protein as I know it helps body builders etc.. A common misconception there for ya'!

So I bought a bundle from Maxitone and gave it a go. Here's what I got...

Maxitone Starter Bundle (Includes Maxitone Sculptress Powder - Strawberry Sundae, Clear Shaker & Sculptress Tablets), Electric Pink Shaker and Maxitone Water Bottle

All together this lot cost me £30.99! But I saved quite a bit, the starter kit cost £26 saving £14.98! The Electric Pink Shaker was free because this was my first order and the Chocolate Delight powder was free because I spent more than £30. So Underneath I'll write the full website prices. :)

The Maxitone Water Bottle I got was so the total went over £30, the cheapest things on the site are water bottles and shakers. As I already had one in the bundle and a free one with my order I didn't want 3! The bottle holds 650ml.
They are £4.99 on Maxitone

The Sculptress Weight Loss System Tablets came in the kit and I'm not quite sure if I'm going to use them as I don't really like the idea of weight loss tablets. I'll look into details about them more first. You take 3 a day at your timings on an empty stomach. £9.99 at Maxitone

Right:
Electric Pink Shaker, this was free with my first order (everyone gets one) an I was gutted that the kit had the clear one as this was the one I really wanted. Super duper pleased with this arrival!

Left:
Clear Shaker, came in the kit. This is going to come in handy when making my shakes and are really easy to use on the go. There's a little plastic mesh sheet you put inside to help break up lumps of powder, nobody wants a chewy shake! Both holds 500ml. £4.99 here

Left:
Chocolate Delight Sculptress Powder this was the free tub I got when I spent over £30, I really wanted to try the chocolate one, the only other shakes I've tried were Biggest Loser ones, and there chocolate one tasted like wafers! High hopes for this!!

Right:
Sculptress Powder in Strawberry Sundae, I got this one because I knew I was receiving a free Chocolate one and thought well I may as well try two different one in case the chocolate one isn't nice. I do like strawberry flavoured things and it was this or Banana (which was tough!). By the way this is the new packaging and the chocolate is the old one. Both tubs hold 14 servings, 2 scoops with 250ml of water. You use these shakes too replace one or two meals or snacks a day technically lasting a week!! I'm only having one a day for my breakfast as it's not ideal on the train to uni. So they should last me two weeks each.
£24.99 each here the deal for a free tubs still on :D

A view of the Chocolate Powder inside and the scoop which you dig for inside :)

So I hope you enjoyed my first looks of Maxitone Sculptress, I'll do a mid review and a full review two weeks in and then finished at four weeks in.

Comment below if you liked this. Give me a follow :) xx

Much Love

Motivational Monday #2

Hi Lovelies!!

OMG I cannot believe that I am writing my second ones of these! It felt like only yesterday I wrote it. Anyway this will be a permanent fixture here on Healing Healthily.

I think this is when most of us give up trying to loose weight and the cheat meals creep in more and more. I am a total sinner where this is concerned. But finding this imaged really did help and I have become more health and determined to do it this time. Sometimes we get stuck at a certain weight and just can't get past it.
Adding variety and trying to drink lots and lots of water really does help. Sometimes people think the less they eat the better, this isn't true your body needs at least 1,200 calories a day AFTER exercises!

Keep going, even if your going slow your still going faster than being sat on the couch!

Size Labels :)

Hey lovelies,

So flicking through 'Fitspiration' on the Internet I came across quite a few interesting images, which I will share with you later. But I came along a quote which I thought was truly perfect. I thought I'd share this with you...

"Sizes are just numbers assigned to garments to make shopping easier. Ever thought of it that way? They’re numbers, put in order, that are designed to make our lives easier when we go shopping. They’re not telling you you’re EXTRA LARGE, or SMALL. They’re like, “oh hey this top is smaller than that one, just FYI” So you can be like, “Why thank you size tag, you just saved me so much time!” Size tags should not hurt your feelings. You should be thankful that they exist! And besides, every size is dependent on the brand. There is no universal size. They’re sized in comparison to other items of the same variety, for your convenience. Just don’t be scared of a number on a tag, okay? "

Hope this helps some people.

Juicing not Snacking #1

Hi Lovelies!

Today I bring you a Juice recipe. I like to make a fresh juice when I'm feeling peckish and would love something cheatish. I rustle something up really quickly and usually find something new and delish!

Todays ¦ Carrot & Apple

Ingredients

4 Large Apple (Any Apple I just used four I picked up at ASDA they were RED)
2/3 Medium to Large Carrots
1 Inch Lemon

Bang ito your chute two apple then your carrots and lemon and remaining 2 apples. Then enjoy. It really is that simple to juice. Serve over lots of ice!

End Result.

Let me know if you try this one or if you like juicing recipes :)

Motivational Monday #1

Hey Lovelies,

So I thought considering this is a Fitness and Health blog and let's be honest some of us like a little motivational kick up the bum. I thought I'd start doing the Motivational Monday posts.
I'm starting this after the Easter holidays when most people are back at Work or University today. I'm not back till next week but I thought this is a good place to start.

This is a really good motivational image which I instantly loved. Mainly because a lot of people me included have undertaken a fad diet and expected to see results quickly and become skinny. Instead take the slow approach it's healthier and the wight stays off. A quick loss will become a quick gain.

Learning that your weight will fluctuate is good and shouldn't dampen you and your efforts. Remember water weight is included!

You can do this. Stay strong and stay persistent if you really want to lose weight and become fit and healthy eat clean and exercise. You will find the results you want gradually. There's a difference between skinny and slim.

Let me know if you like these posts and find it useful or interesting :)
